MEET THE INSTRUCTOR


David W. Adams is a professional firearms instructor with certified training as a NRA Pistol Instructor, a NRA Range Safety Officer, a licensed California Department of Justice Firearm Safety Instructor and an authorized State of Florida & Arizona Concealed Weapon Permit (CCW) Instructor.

He has an extensive knowledge in the use of firearms and has received training in the State of California Police Officers Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) programs and from local law enforcement agencies issuing Concealed Weapon Permits (CCW) training.

He is a National Rifle Association member & recruiter, a California Rifle & Pistol Association member & recruiter, a California State Sheriff’s Association business member, an IDPA competition shooter and a member of the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA).

In 2006, he established Strategic Firearms Training, a full service firearms training company offering courses in firearm safety training, self defense instruction, advanced firearms tactics and concealed weapon permit training.

Mission statement: " Whether you are a beginning, intermediate or advanced shooter, professional training will give you the skills to use your firearm more effectively and safely. A firearm may be dangerous to yourself and others unless you invest the time to become properly trained in its use. I will teach you the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a firearm safely for recreation and personal protection."

Past clients have included  legally armed citizens, law enforcement personnel, security officers, probation officers, private investigators and animal control personnel.

In 2007, he received the United States President’s Volunteer Service Award from USA Freedom Corps for his work with educators and others to help increase civic awareness and participation.

In 2008, he created the US Armed Citizens Network, an organization providing responsible armed citizens with information for protecting their gun rights and recommending training that is necessary in order to be prepared for personal & home defense.

His mentors have been:

1. Eddie Fryer, a 30 year veteran of the FBI, was a FBI SWAT Team Leader, firearms instructor and was the FBI case agent for the Polly Klaas kidnapping case in 1993. He is currently the Undersheriff for Walla Walla County Washington.

2. Robert Nishiyama, recently retired from the California Department of Justice as a Special Agent Supervisor of the Mendocino County Major Crimes Task Force has worked in law enforcement for over 38 years and received many awards. He currently teaches law enforcement / firearms classes  and operates a private investigations service.
